When it is time for the "World Famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and Races", much like the swarming of bees, it is not unusual to have 400,000 to 500,000 bikes in the Black Hills and in this city of a minuscule 6,800 souls. This year marks the 71st anniversary of the rally and thus the weeks before and after the 7 big days of August 8th thru 14th, 2011.. the Black Hills will swarm and be owned by the "hogs" and "screaming eagles". Gary Liphold is one of the big boys that has been around Sturgis for some time, and now operates a new venue "Monkey Rock".
